During 2002 World Cup, the English footballer David Beckham suddenly became an object of intense
adoration in Japan. But was this phenomenon really the beginning of a lasting affection for the player or simply a passing
whim of trend-sensitive teenagers?

Asian market for Real Madrid, or any other club of his choice. From Bangkok to Beijing, Singapore to Seoul, the English captain
is idolised for his combination of football skills, charm and good looks. So it seems, just like us, the Japanese know a good
thing when they see it!
